Today’s Devotion: August 23
1 Corinthians 15:57 “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
There are struggles in life which are bigger than mankind. Generational curses, such as alcoholism, abuse, pedophilia often remain in families and stay unaddressed due to silence, shame and guilt. As people we can always opt to fight against these family secrets on our own, or we can give it to God and let Him abolish it. The Word of God tells us that we have “victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Before you get too excited and ask, Well, why do these exist in the first place, you must remember that Jesus came to reinstate man’s relationship to God. Due to sin, there were generations whereby there was an increasing relational distance between God and His creation — mankind. It was during this time that sin was given ample opportunity to creep in. Many of these sins took a foothold and remained within family systems even up until today. Thank God, these sins, often termed as generational curses, can be permanently cast out of our family lines through our relationship and faith in Christ Jesus.
Prayer: Thank You, God that through Your Son, any generational curses within my family can end with me. Lord, I pray that You will rid my family of these issues today. Help me to…
