Morning Devotion: July 30
Psalm 119:74 “I have longed for thy salvation, O Lord; and thy law is my delight.”
Many days are filled with moments of joy if we set our eyes upon it as an expectation. Then there are days when we just want to be saved, saved from a broken relationship, saved from mourning the death of a loved one, or saved from illness. The time to get into God’s Word is ripe when we need rescuing, but how wonderful it is when the Word is present on our lips because we consistently incorporate it into our daily living. Reading God’s Word, taking the time to pray for understanding is what makes His law our delight. And as quiet as it is kept, this also provides peace in our hearts while we walk out — and through — deliverance from trying times.
Prayer: Thank You, God, for Your promise to never leave me nor forsake me (Hebrews 13:5). As I read Your Word, I ask that You give me a greater understanding of You and what it means to follow Your law. May I also be granted Grace to respond accordingly in all areas of my life. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
