Morning Devotion: August 3
Psalms 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
Refuge is a place of safety or hiding, particularly in the midst of danger or chaos. The Word says God is the place of safety for us — you, me, his daughters, his sons. No matter what is occurring around me, I can go to Him, I will be safe in Him AND He will be my strength also. Wow. How is it, that danger could be all around, and hiding in God will strengthen someone?
The answer lies in the fact that as the created (us), all of our being is determined — was decreed — by the Creator (God). When we flow naturally in this purpose, it matures us, makes us more capable, as we move closer to the ultimate plan of His Will and Purpose for our lives. On the contrary, when we move on our own accord (without considering Him nor consulting Him, i.e., prayer), we tend to stray away from the natural order God intended for us. Furthermore, we become weakened due to our distance from our life source.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, like a plant needs soil, to grow to flourish, I need to be more grounded in You. Today I challenge myself to increase in my knowledge of You. As I do so, let the promise of Your Presence be the strength I rely on regardless of my circumstances. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
