Morning Devotion: August 14
Revelations 3:20 “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”
I confess, the last book of the Bible used to instill fear in me. Filled with prophecy of days on earth prior to the Second Coming of Christ, the text evoked my desire to be on the “right” side when the time came for me to leave this life. Thankfully, through the Holy Spirit, the fear of God evolved into the love of God. The more God reveals Himself to me — through prayer, fasting, Bible study, fellowship — the more I realize that I need Him for more than a place in Heaven. I need Him to be a part of every facet of my life. The many distractions and cares of this world can drown out His voice, if I stop knocking at His door.
Prayer: Thank You, God that You make yourself available to all who desire to know You. Your love and your mercy are unending. Your greatness is more than mankind can imagine. May I always have a heart to be in Your presence. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
